Spiral Meditation

The Process

As just mentioned in the Masters discussion, the Spiral Meditation is designed to deepen your experience each time you pause to do the meditation, when you have time to move through the seven-step process two or more times.

And as you become more practiced at this short-form meditation process, by studying this course in depth, you'll find that each time you say a particular focus phrase, you'll be calling (if you want) upon the presence and guidance of the master associated with that focus phrase.

  • I want to talk here about the final power of this Spiral Meditation experience - provoked as you continue saying the focus phrases in order, around and around ... until something truly remarkable happens, all on its own.

As I also showed in earlier classes, this new meditation process employs verbal cues that ultimately lead to the quieting of all verbal activity in the mind. We're using words to ultimately quiet words.

That's what you'll discover happens as you move around and around through the Spiral Meditation - the words will keep taking you deeper, until you reach a point where even the focus phrases drop away ... and your mind becomes naturally quiet!

Spiritual Roulette

This meditation process, as mentioned before, came to me. I didn't consciously create it. Yes, I did many years of research and inner exploration on meditation before I discovered this process. But the process itself came to me as a surprise - and a salvation.

  • So what I am teaching you is what I first discovered myself, as spontaneously the seven focus phrases emerged in my own voice ... and led me into discovering their impact in many fronts.
Spiral

Even though the psychological process makes sense in terms of cognitive science, the process itself just happened to me. I found myself saying the first focus phrase, "I am breathing freely," or sometimes "I am here, now... breathing freely." The words would provoke a refocusing of my attention to my breathing. And then the next focus phrase would emerge to match the natural way in which human consciousness does expand.

The experience that comes with the saying of each focus phrase is always new - and therefore truly meditative on the unfolding of the eternal present moment. And as you move several times through the spiral of the seven focus phrases, the words help you be aware of your full presence and unfolding in that moment.

But my experience over and over, was that as I went through the Spiral Meditation several times, I woul dalways reach a point where I would say a focus phrase to myself - and then ... there would be no more words.

  • And here's the remarkable thing - always, I find myself stopping with my focus of attention pointed, through that final focus phrase, directly toward what I most need to meditate upon that particular time ...

Our Deeper Self Knows

Each of the seven focus phrases points toward a particular dimension of our consciousness, our personality, our psychological needs and often our emotional and cognitive constrictions - and at any given moment, there's one of these focus points that most needs our attention.

  • I've found that my deeper self, with guidance from greater spiritual help, knows where to end the movement through the Spiral Meditation - so that I'm focused at the deepest level, right where I must need to focus loving spiritual attention.

This final dynamic of this meditation process is truly phenomenal - and I encourage you to explore it over and over, several times each day at least, for the coming weeks and months - discover for yourself how the Spiral Meditation leads you directly to the meditative focus you most need that day!

The End Is The Beginning

Spiral

We've now come to the end of my written notes on this new short-form meditation process. If you want further reading, please feel free to read the Seven Masters book, because it's quite different written content than this course. And of course, there are a number of buttons top and left that will lead you to additional writings and experiences.

I'll also be regularly updating this course at the Update button above, so that there's newness and constant expansion here in this online community. You might enjoy chatting with other people about your experiences with this meditation process. I'll be tuning in at the Discussion button to chat with you as well. Perhaps you'll want to also take other courses found at my main site at http://johnselby.com where I'm constantly expanding the content ... this is my life now.

  • But whatever you do, my primary focus is this - stay tuned into the sensation of the air flowing in and out of your nose ... all the time!

Make this your life. Make being aware and staying aware throughout each new day most important to you - and all the rest will unfold! Do pause and move through the meditation process you're learning here, often each day. Discover the power and glory of the Spiral experience ... but most important, learn how to stay aware of your breathing (and in extension with everything else) all the time!

The Process Is All

We start with breath awareness, we end with breath awareness, and we start again with breath awareness. I have been doing this meditation many years now, and yes, still I often lose my awareness of my breathing for short periods - and again and again each new day, I return my attention to this core experience, and let the focus phrases again expand my awareness ...

For me, there is no ultimate goal we're trying to achieve spiritually. I am not a believer in enlightenment. I'm instead dedicated to the esential spiritual process we're all involved in together, of becoming more conscious more of the time ...

  • And it doesn't matter where you are on the path - what matters is that you're walking your path to greater awareness, as much of the time as possible!

That's why it's so important to remind yourself regularly that the world is perfectly okay just as it is - this is God's perfct creation, after all. And in love, we are all okay just as we are - no need to change. Just the need to become more and more aware - and that awareness will be the power that spontaneously generates newness, growth, change and awakening in all of us.

Let's give it our all, together in love!

And now, time for the audio!
